How can I back up my progress?
In Temple Run 2, a backup file of your game progress can be stored within the recommended Cloud service relative to your device's operating system (OS).
-For devices using Android OS, we recommend using the Google Play Games cloud service. Please also check the TR2 Settings menu to ensure the Play Games sign-in option is switched to the ON position.
-For iOS devices (an iPhone or iPad), we recommend using Apple's iCloud service.
Once signed into one of the recommended Cloud services, your TR2 progress should automatically create a new backup (or overwrite the existing) of your overall progress at the end of each run session.
What is saved in the backup file?
The Cloud backup file for Temple Run 2 saves the following content:
-characters, outfits, and maps you've unlocked with tokens or gems,
-the artifacts you've collected,
-your Lifetime Stats record
Currency and active challenge progress do not save to the Cloud services at this time. Contact the TR2 Support Team for help restoring/transferring currency and challenge progress.
How can I restore my progress after reinstalling? How can I transfer progress to a new device?
If you have reinstalled the game or want to transfer progress to a new device, progress can only be restored if it was backed up to the Cloud service previously. Please check your device settings to verify that you are signed into the same Google Play Games or Apple iCloud account that you were using. Launch the Temple Run 2 game application to check that your characters, outfits, maps, artifacts, and Lifetime Stats are appearing properly. Remember to contact the TR2 Support Team for help restoring or transferring your currency and challenge progress.
When transferring progress to a new device, please know that your Cloud backups can only be accessed on devices within the same OS family (Android to Android, iOS to iOS). Game progress cannot be transferred to a different OS platform (Android to iOS or vice versa).
I wasn't using a Cloud service. Can my progress be restored or transferred?
If you have not used the Cloud service for your device while playing Temple Run 2, your game progress is being stored locally on your device. It is important to note that this is only meant to be a temporary saving location and not recommended for long-term use while playing TR2.
If you need to reinstall TR2 for any reason without a prior Cloud backup, the locally stored files will be erased upon deleting the current instance TR2 from your device. Once the game is installed again, you will see everything as a new player. The erased files cannot be retrieved at this point.
If you want to move your game progress to another device, the locally stored files cannot be transferred without a prior Cloud backup. You will have separate instances of the game on each device.
